Steele Trying to Make Sense of Kingsburg Ouster
Coach Steele said Wednesday he's been blown away by all the support coming his way from parents, former players and random community members.

FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- A little more than 24 hours since Dave Steele revealed he'd been fired as Kingsburg head football coach, it still doesn't make sense to him or the Kingsburg community.

Coach Steele said Wednesday he's been blown away by all the support coming his way from parents, former players and random community members. He said he had more than 200 text messages on his phone Tuesday and dozens of voicemails, all of them expressing support for the coach that went 73-16 with three valley titles at Kingsburg.

Coach Steele is staying positive through this situation, and told me hopes his players can apply this real life lesson to their lives.

"I told the kids this is a life lesson, this is a good teaching moment because sometimes you have to stand up for what you believe and what you feel is right," said Steele. "And sometimes that can cost you things and for me something because this was a big part of my life at Kingsburg."
