Steph Curry responds to Michael Jordan's Hall of Fame comments

Two days after Michael Jordan told the "Today" show that he doesn't believe Stephen Curry is a Hall of Famer yet, the Golden State Warriors guard responded, implying that Jordan's words left room for interpretation.

In an interview released Wednesday on SiriusXM NBA Radio, Curry said if Jordan had been asked whether he thought the Warriors star would get into the Hall of Fame -- as opposed to whether his current credentials were Hall-worthy -- his answer would've been different.

"I love MJ. That's my guy. He's obviously ... he's the GOAT," Curry said. "But I don't know if it was a wordsmith thing or if he just kinda got in his own way, but I'm sure if you ask him that question now, like straight-up, does he think I'm getting in there, he probably would have a different answer. If you put the 'yet,' then I'm cool with that."

The question of whether the two-time MVP and three-time NBA champion is a Hall of Famer came up after Jordan told the "Today" show his dream five-man pick-up team, which didn't include Curry.

After naming Hakeem Olajuwon, Scottie Pippen, Magic Johnson and James Worthy as teammates in his fantasy starting five, MJ was asked whether Curry should be offended.

"I hope not. He's still a great player. Not a Hall of Famer yet, though. He's not," Jordan said with a smirk.

Jordan, who owns theHornets in Curry's hometown of Charlotte, was inducted into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame in 2009.

Warriors coach Steve Kerr, a teammate of Jordan's with the Chicago Bulls from 1996 to '98, said Tuesday that Jordan has his own version of the Hall of Fame.

"I think Michael has his own version of the Hall of Fame," Kerr said with a smile. "It's in his own head, so whatever that is, that's what it is."
