Visitors will be treated to a new guest experience when China Peak opens for the season

CHINA PEAK (KFSN) -- China Peak is set to fire up its chair lifts-- officials spent the summer renovating the resort as they get ready for the upcoming season.

The lead up to opening day seems to be running smoothly. Just as crews apply the finishing touches to the resort's first major changes in years.

"We want to create a more social experience with our customers," said Nick Cohee, China Peak Resort.

In between runs, guests can socialize at the Buckhorn Bar and Grill-- a 2,000 square foot deck was added to an upgraded bar area.

Need a spot to charge your phone? You'll find it there along with cold taps and a fresh menu.

"It's tricky putting such a great venue mid-mountain, but we do want it to be kind of a hub. People could stop in stay for awhile. There's a great vibe and you can continue down the mountain, catch a chair back up, and make another stop. But we definitely want this to be a heartbeat and pulse for the mountain," said Chris Garza, Food and Beverage Director.

Based on guest demand China Peak built a new wine bar located at the base of the resort-- using local red fur and white pine.

"We definitely see wine and skiing going hand in hand and saw a lot of demand from our guests. We'll be serving bubbly wine, whites and reds, and really save a lot of people from having to bring it here themselves," said Garza.

Skiers will enjoy a new smoother trail. Officials spent the summer months grooming the hillside.

"A great new trail of red fur is completely revamped, super flat, no rocks very beautiful ready for our skiers and riders pleasure," said Cohee.

China Peak officials are expecting about a foot of snow over the weekend which will help with the base and get the resort open in time for December 3rd.
