City of Visalia rolls out mobile app
There's a new way for Visalia residents to connect with their city. Now, all the information they might need is right on their phone.

VISALIA, Calif. (KFSN) -- There's little you can't find right at your fingertips, and now the city of Visalia is joining the mobile trend.

"It's just another way to provide access to information we feel our citizens want and need," said Nancy Loliva with the city of Visalia.

Visalia Mobile has just launched. It puts everything residents need to know right on their phones. City contact information, events and news is all readily available.

But the app provides more than just details. It also allows people to report problems.

"We made it as simple as we possible could because we know people are busy," said Loliva.

Here's how it works. Let's say while driving on Lovers Lane, you notice a pothole. You can report it under the Visalia Works tab, select "streets," then pick "potholes."

"And click on that particular component, and go right to the form and fill it out, and it's submitted immediately to the city organization," said Loliva.

You can also report a number of other problems like cracked sidewalks and traffic signal outages. Every time you submit something, you're given a tracking ID. You can look up requests and see what action has been taken. The forms aren't new, they're just more accessible.

"Now they're tailored to specific needs, again making it easy for the customer to get to the information that they want," said Loliva.

The city says they're ready to respond to the reports they get, hoping this will help better engage the community.
