Teen arrested for threatening to "shoot up" Central High School West campus, sheriff says

FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- Another local student is under arrest and facing felony charges for making threats against a high school. This time, it was directed at Central High School West campus.

This brings the number of arrests in the Fresno area to five since the Florida school shooting two weeks ago. Sheriffs deputies say a student warned staff members of the teenager's plan to shoot up the school Thursday.

After interviewing them, deputies say the threats were credible, and he did not have any weapons on him. However, the students family does own several guns. Deputies are still working to see if the student had access to any of those guns.

Central Unified School District released the following statement:

"Central Unified is grateful for the swift response and investigation conducted by the Fresno County Sheriff's Office. Student and staff safety are of utmost importance in our district and we take all threats seriously. We urge parents to talk with their children about the seriousness of

making any threatening remarks and to report all suspicious behavior observed in person or on social media."
