Toddler death in Calwa being investigated as suspicious
According to the Fresno County Sheriff's Office, the death of a one-year-old boy at a house in Calwa is being investigated as a suspicious death.

FRESNO COUNTY (KFSN) -- According to the Fresno County Sheriff's Office, the death of a one-year-old boy at a house in Calwa is being investigated as a suspicious death.

According to officials, around 9:30 Wednesday morning the boyfriend of the boys' mom went in to check on the boy when he found him having a hard time breathing. He called the police and when a Fresno officer arrived on scene he began to do CPR on the child and once EMS arrived they took over but eventually pronounced the child dead at 10:15 a.m.

Because the address of the home is in Fresno County the sheriff's department took over the investigation.

Authorities said they have detained the mother and boyfriend but have not filed any charges against them. Detectives are working on getting statements from both adults to determine just what happened to the child.

Officials said the boyfriend is not the father of the boy.

There were no other kids in the apartment, officials said.
