8 injured, including 5 children, in Central Fresno crash
Fresno police are investigating a crash in Central Fresno that sent eight people to the hospital, including five children.

FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- Fresno police are investigating a crash in Central Fresno that sent eight people to the hospital, including five children.

Police say the driver of a white Ford Explorer ran a red light and at Weber and Hughes, around 11:30 p.m. Monday, and crashed into another SUV.

Everyone involved was taken to local hospitals.

"The white Ford Explorer had two adults and five additional children in it, ranging in ages from one to 15 years of age. All occupants, including the driver of the Tahoe and the occupants of the ford explorer received injuries ranging from minor to serious, life-threatening issues," said Lt. Dave Ramos, Fresno Police Department.

A ten-year-old boy in the white SUV is now at Valley Children's Hospital in critical condition. It's not yet known if he will survive.

Officers expect to be at the scene until 7 a.m. Tuesday morning. Hughes and Weber are blocked off as they investigate. It's unknown whether alcohol played a role in the crash.
