KINGSBURG, Calif. (KFSN) -- Highway Patrol Officers in the South Valley are investigating a deadly accident. They responded to the scene just before six Monday morning on the southbound lanes of Highway 99 near Road 12.

Officers said the driver of a Ford F-150 lost control of his car, slid off the roadway and hit a tree. Investigators believe the conditions at the time may have played a role in the accident.

Michael Wolfe with the CHP said, "It was wet out here, light rain, hydroplaning can occur properly inflated and be careful in the rain."

Investigators said the driver was wearing a seatbelt. He has not yet been identified.
