Driver dies after crashing into horse near Dos Palos

FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- A crash in Merced County after the driver collided into a horse that was loose on the highway.

It happened just after 11 p.m. Monday night on Highway 152 near Highway 59, just west of Dos Palos. CHP says a man driving a Honda hit a horse on one of the eastbound lanes.

The horse went right over the roof of the car and ended up in the median. The man and horse were pronounced dead at the scene.

No word if drugs, alcohol or speed was a factor in the crash.
