FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- A man has major injuries after an early morning crash on Highway 41 in Downtown Fresno.

The crash happened after 6:30 a.m. Tuesday morning on Freeway 41 near Divisadero. California Highway Patrol (CHP) investigators say the driver, lost control and his SUV and went up an embankment before overturning.

CHP officials say the driver was not wearing his seatbelt and was ejected from the vehicle.

"According to witness statements, there was no reason that they could see for him to swerve off the roadway. He went off the road and up the embankment which cause the overturning of the vehicle," said Sgt. Joseph Bianchi, California Highway Patrol.

Part of Freeway 41 was backed up as crews worked to clean up the crash, but the traffic is back to normal. The driver, has not been identified. He was rushed to a local hospital with major injuries.
