Man killed by car in Madera

FRESNO, California -- One man is dead after being hit by a car in Madera.

It happened on Avenue 12 near Road 26 1/2 around 9:30 Thursday night. The CHP says a 60-year-old man was walking across Avenue 12 when he was hit by a Honda Accord, driven by 26-year-old Miriam Leon.

The man was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the Honda did stop following the accident and is cooperating with the investigation.
