One person dead after being hit by train in Tulare County

TULARE CO., Calif. (KFSN) -- The Tulare County Sheriff's Office says one person was hit and killed by a train in Tulare County Saturday afternoon.

Officials responded to a call around 1:30 p.m. near Highway 99 and Merritt. The fire department arrived at the scene first and confirmed the fatality.

California Highway Patrol is now on the scene and investigating the incident.
