Sunday marks the closing of Oktoberfest, the annual celebration that runs for 16 days from mid-September to the first weekend in October in Munich, Germany.

This year marked the 181st anniversary of the festival, which began in 1810 as a celebration of the marriage of Crown Prince Ludwig (who later became King Ludwig I) to Princess Therese of Saxony-Hildburghausen.
