Lightning damages home in Hanford
Raul Deleon couldn't believe his home was struck by lightning until he saw the damage. His wife was home alone at the time.

HANFORD, Calif. (KFSN) -- Lightning is being blamed for causing severe damage to a home in Kings County. The light show began Wednesday night and lasted through Thursday morning. That's when a bolt of lightning came crashing down on a home in Hanford.

The lightning caught Raul Deleon's palm tree on fire and left a large hole in the brickwork on his patio.

The Hanford Fire Department determined electricity shot through the water pipes -- and went straight into the house. The bolt even blew out a window. Deleon's wife was home alone at the time of the strike.

"This can be fixed," said Deleon. "My house can be fixed. My wife cannot be replaced and thank god for that. We're okay."

Insurance adjustors will try to figure out the cost of repairs. It's expected to be a few days before running water is restored.
