Woman hit and killed by train in Merced, police say

MERCED, Calif. (KFSN) -- A woman is dead after she was hit by a train in Merced Sunday morning.

The accident happened on the railroad tracks near 16th and V Streets.

Officials say the victim is in her 50s and was killed on impact.

They say it appears the woman was looking through binoculars near the tracks when she was hit.
