Woman, 19, struck by car in Merced

FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- A 19-year-old woman is recovering after being hit by a car in Merced. It happened near Yosemite and San Jose avenues around 7 p.m. Sunday.

Police say the victim ran out into the road for unknown reasons. A driver tried to avoid hitting her, but she was struck by a side mirror.

The woman was flown to a Modesto hospital as a precaution, but authorities say her injuries did not appear to be serious.
