Woman killed after being hit by car in East Central Fresno
A 49-year-old woman was struck by a vehicle on Olive and Maple Avenues.

FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- Authorities say a driver traveling westbound on Olive near the 180 overpass hit Marnie Curtis, 49.

The driver was not under the influence of drugs or alcohol, police say. According to authorities, the driver hit the woman who was in the street.

She was taken to the hospital where she later died. Officials are not sure if weather conditions played a role in the accident but they are encouraging drivers to be extra cautious while on the roads.

"Take that extra time to stop and be extra cognizant of pedestrians and folks on bicycles out here it is extremely dangerous," said Lt. Michael Landon.

Fresno Police say there does not appear to be a crosswalk in the area. At this time the name of the woman has not been released.

Police say the driver stayed at the scene and was cooperative.
