FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- A woman was killed in a chain-reaction crash involving three vehicles in Fresno County late on Thursday night.

It happened just after 10:30 p.m. on Highway 99 just south of Sierra Street near Kingsburg.

The California Highway Patrol says an 18-year-old woman from Ivanhoe lost control of her vehicle and collided with the median wall.

Authorities say the woman's car was stuck in the southbound lane after the collision, and minutes later, two other vehicles crashed into her vehicle.

The 18-year-old woman was airlifted to Community Regional Medical Center with major injuries. She died at the hospital.

The drivers and passengers in the other two vehicles suffered minor injuries, CHP says.

Investigators do not believe alcohol or drugs were a factor in the crash.
