NEW YORK -- Weeks after Apple's new iPhone 8 went on sale, the tech company revealed that it's investigating claims that the phone is prone to cracking open.
Apple told U.K. newspaper "The Independent" that it's looking into reports from several customers in Asia who say their new phones split open while they were being charged.

One customer in Japan reported that his phone split apart due to the battery swelling up.
The issue so far doesn't appear to be widespread and there are no reports of any iPhone 8 batteries exploding.
