Here are your 2017 Film Independent Spirit Awards nominees

Wednesday, November 23, 2016
Nominations have been announced for the Film Independent Spirit Awards, which honors excellence in movies with a budget of less than $20 million.

The Spirit Awards are on "Oscars Eve," and winners have proven to be contenders going up against the bigger budget films at the Oscars. Last year, the Spirit Awards' Best Feature winner, Spotlight, also took home Best Picture at the Oscars. Brie Larson of Room was named Best Female Lead at the Spirit Awards before winning Best Actress the next night at the Oscars.
