Suspect arrested in connection to deadly shooting of 17-year-old in Corcoran, police say

CORCORAN, Calif. (KFSN) -- A suspect has been arrested in connection to the deadly shooting of a 17-year-old in Corcoran.

Police say 18-year-old Michael Freeman, a Tulare native, was taken into custody in Bakersfield on Tuesday.


The shooting happened Sunday on Fern Drive near Mark Twain Elementary School.

Police found the 17-year-old boy suffering from a single gunshot wound.

He was taken to the hospital, where he later died.


Freeman was arrested and booked into the Kings County Jail. His bail is set at $5 million.
