Fresno County jail looking to hire more correctional officers after board of supervisors approves budget

FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- Funding was just approved to hire more correctional officers at the Fresno County Jail.

The Fresno County Board of Supervisors approved a budget amendment Tuesday. It provides for 42 new correctional officer positions that will be funded by the county and AB 109, the Public Safety Realignment Act.

It is part of the sheriff-coroner's staffing plan, which adds 136 positions over a three-year period and started back in 2015.
