Thursday morning, 29-year-old Jerry Hayes escaped after an officer opened a van door at the Fresno County Jail and ran off.
Hayes left the area shirtless with one handcuff still attached but was ultimately taken back into custody around 1:30 pm.
He was originally arrested by Clovis police.
