FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- Fresno Unified could be naming a theater at the Roosevelt School of Arts after Broadway star Audra McDonald.

McDonald is originally from Fresno and graduated from Roosevelt in 1988. She went on to attend the prestigious Julliard School in New York City, before heading to Broadway.

McDonald has six Tony Awards, two Grammy Awards, and an Emmy.

The performer has also received the National Medal of Arts from former President Barack Obama, the highest honor for achievement in the arts.

The board will vote on the theater's name during its regular meeting on Wednesday.
