Tesla competitor Faraday Future previews 1 million square foot Hanford facility

FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- In the South Valley, a competitor of Tesla has decided to set up shop in Hanford.

Faraday Future is an electric car start-up based in Los Angeles and on Saturday, they invited all their employees from throughout the state to help put the finishing touches on their new one million square foot factory.

The company was looking for an existing space to quickly begin production, and officials say Hanford was a perfect location.

"We're bringing a high technology product that doesn't have as much industry right now, so I think we're doing the right thing. And we decided to be here in California because it supports clean energy and environmental protection, so I think it's great to be here," COO/CFO Stefan Krause said.

Hanford city officials were on hand for the day's event and are expected to speak more on the impact Faraday Future will have on the community.

When completed, the company hopes to employ to 1,300 people.
