The shooting happened around 6:00 pm in the area of Clark Street and Sussex Way.
Fresno police say a 16-year-old was rushed to a local hospital, where he later died.
A second teenager who later showed up at the hospital with a gunshot wound is expected to survive.
Officers say the teen has been detained at the hospital as they work to figure out what led up to the shooting.
