Wildfire burning in Fresno County foothills

FRESNO COUNTY, Calif. (KFSN) -- Crews in Fresno County battled a wildfire burning in the Blue Canyon area on Friday.

The Nutmeg Fire is burning off of Dinkey Creek Road, in an area about eight miles southeast of Shaver Lake.

The surrounding area, which includes several summer camps, were under evacuation warnings in the afternoon.

But those warnings were later lifted.



The view from a PG&E camera in the area showed smoke billowing into the sky, visible from miles away.

More than a half dozen aircraft dropped water and retardant on the flames.

The fire burned at least five acres.
