FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- In downtown Fresno, dozens of people came out to celebrate Fiesta Navidena as part of the 41st annual Betty Rodriguez Scholarship Fundraiser.

The colorful event is put on each year by the League of Mexican-American women. With reenactments to traditional music, organizers say it gives those who attend an insight of what Christmas looks like in Mexico.

With the help from the community, the league is able to offer close to 10 scholarships a year.

"We are very grateful for the participation of the community," an organizer said. "Without community support, this wouldn't be a successful event and the success of this event means the success of future students."

Organizers hope to raise $10,000 in scholarship funds and a familiar face also took part in this year's fiesta. ABC30 anchor Tony Cabrera emceed the event.
