FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- A special celebration Saturday helped hundreds of needy families in Southeast Fresno.

The Hope Foundation, in collaboration with Cornerstone Church and the Fresno Police Department, held their annual Christmas giveaway at Sunnyside High School.

Each year, Fresno Unified pre-selects 200 needy families around the district. With the help of volunteers, each family is presented with a traditional holiday program and gifts and food to take home.

"One of the things I really," pastor Jim Franklin said. "Especially if you're a parent."

Children were also given the chance to take pictures with Santa Claus and some of their other favorite characters.
