Fresno State to retire Derek Carr's #4 Jersey

FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- Fresno State is ready to honor a top dog. Bulldogs head coach Jeff Tedford and Fresno State announced on Monday that the school will retire Derek Carr's #4 jersey during halftime of the season opener on September 2nd against Incarnate Word.

The Bulldogs all-time leading passer and current Oakland Raiders quarterback will be in attendance as he becomes just the 7th player in program history to have his number retired.

Carr, a two-time Mountain West Offensive Player of the Year and two-time All-American while at Fresno State, joins brother David Carr (No. 8), quarterback Trent Dilfer (No. 12), wide receiver Henry Ellard (No. 83), running back Dale Messer (No. 21), kicker Vince Petrucci (No. 14) and quarterback Kevin Sweeney (No. 9).
