FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- Two Central Valley families became the latest Habitat for Humanity homeowners Saturday.

The Gonzalez and Xiong family are the first two families to move in Habitat's newest $1.8 million subdivision called Rialto Ranch in Clovis.

Both homes are approximately 1,300 square feet with three bedrooms, two bathrooms, and solar panels to help reduce energy costs. Habitat for Humanity Fresno County says it never gets old seeing a family receive their key and realize the American dream.

"Everyone wants to have a decent place to call home, but, unfortunately, there are many who don't have that opportunity at Habitat, we do that we put God's love into action," Matthew Grundy with the program said.

In addition to qualifying for a zero to low-interest loan, both families had to put 500 hours of "sweat equity" into building their home.
