Family escapes house fire in Northwest Fresno

FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- Crews are at the scene of a house fire. It broke out just before four Monday morning at a home on Avalon and Gates.

Officials said the family of five inside were able to escape but a dog did die in the fire.

Firefighters were able to quickly contain the fire to the front bedroom. The extent of damage is not yet known and it's not known what may have sparked the fire.
