PUERTO RICO (KFSN) -- Puerto Rico's official death toll from Hurricane Maria continues to grow, rising to 64 victims.

The island's Department of Public Safety announced the latest death toll numbers the same day as FEMA announced federal assistance in Puerto Rico is now topping one-billion dollars.

More than one million Puerto Rican residents registered for assistance.

Power also remains to be a problem on the island after taking a major hit this weekend leaving half of the island without electricity.
