Evacuation order issued for a Bass Lake Mobile Home Park

MADERA COUNTY, Calif. (KFSN) -- The Madera County sheriff's office issued an evacuation notice for residents at Sierra Springs Mobile Home Park in Bass Lake on Sunday.

The concern is that the snow has gotten so thick and heavy that it could collapse roofs.

The sheriff's office announced on their Facebook page, they are assisting everyone asking for help.

Steve Arata is a resident of Bass Lake. Last week, he was out helping out people in his area.

He says it's important for him to give back to his neighbors.

"I didn't realize how many people were in their 90s up here," Arata says. "There are several of them and World War Two vets, so it's a good feeling to help these people."

As he's been out helping, he realized the storm was now affecting him.

"We have eight buildings that collapsed and antique cars, hot rods, classic boats," Arata says. "There's millions of dollars worth of inventory inside these buildings."

He's thankful no one has been hurt during the storms.

An evacuation shelter has been established at the Oakhurst Community Center, located at 39800 Road 425B.

If anyone is in need of evacuation assistance, call 911.
