Deputies arrest 34-year-old for killing man in Tulare County

Investigators say the man was found with multiple gunshot wounds and pronounced dead at the scene.

FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- Tulare County sheriff's detectives have arrested a man connected to a homicide that occurred near Kingsburg on Thursday night.

The 47-year-old victim was found shot to death in a travel trailer on Avenue 400 near Road 40, just east of Kingsburg.

Officials say 34-year-old Gerardo Ortega lived on the same property as the man and began searching for him early Friday morning.

Deputies arrested 34-year-old Gerardo Ortega on Friday morning. They say he lived on the same property as the victim.



Investigators tracked him down in Reedley, where they discovered an assault rifle in his car that is believed to be the gun used in the deadly shooting.

Ortega will be booked into the Tulare County Adult Pre-Trial Facility.
