Man hospitalized after being stabbed in Downtown Fresno

FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- The incident happened at around 11 a.m. Saturday morning near Fresno and E Street.

Police say the 36-year-old victim was trying to help his friend fight another man when he was stabbed right above the heart with possibly a dagger.

Authorities tell us the victim then ran towards a nearby fire station for help.

Lt. Joe Gomez of the Fresno Police Department said, "Fortunately it missed his heart it missed his lungs it just left him at the hospital."

Police say the victim is expected to recover.

The suspect is described as a man in his 50's who was last seen wearing a yellow jacket.
