Man rescued after driving car into canal

CLOVIS, Calif. (KFSN) -- A driver that drove his car into a canal had to be rescued late Sunday afternoon.

The accident happened near Herndon Avenue and Madsen Avenue in Clovis just after 4 p.m.

The driver told officials that his car completely shut off causing him to lose control, drive through a fence and go into the canal.

He got out on top of his car and called for 911 as he floated down the canal.

He was safely taken out by highway patrol officers and was not injured.
