Evacuations lifted for residents near wildfire in Mariposa County

MARIPOSA, Calif. (KFSN) -- Firefighters are gaining ground on a wildfire south of Mariposa. Evacuations were lifted at eleven Tuesday morning for area residents.

So far the fire has burned 225 acres and is 80-percent contained. About 500 fire personnel are working to put out the flames.

Cal-fire said the fire broke out Sunday afternoon off Highway 49 and Allred Road. Some roads are restricted but will be open to area residents.

Power will soon be restored to all affected areas.

There is no word yet on the cause.
