Merced police find owner of a memorial flag recovered from thief

MERCED, Calif. (KFSN) -- Investigators in the North Valley were able to track down the proper owners of a stolen memorial flag.

Merced police said Kamon Stephens had a stolen military flag in his possession along with some mail addressed to a Mary Spratley in Ceres.

Investigators were able to make contact with her to return the United States memorial flag.

The flag contained a copy of a heroic achievement letter for her husband's actions in World War II.
