North and South Korea agree to hold talks on easing military tensions

Tuesday, January 9, 2018
For the first time in years, North and South Korea held high-level talks that resulted in a deal

North Korea agreed to send its athletes to the upcoming Olympic games in the south. The North Koreans are calling it a "New Year's gift" for South Korea -- a reassurance their games will not be disrupted.

The talks are happening amid rising tensions with the U.S. over North Korean Leader Kim Jong-un's growing nuclear arsenal.

In a joint statement, both countries also agreed to hold military talks to relieve military tensions.

President Trump says he welcomes these talks and that if something could come out of this, it would be great for all of humanity.
