Michael Konopka inched onto the ice to grab the deer as it started to crack under his feet.
His 17-year-old son held the straps on the other end supporting his father's weight and the helpless animal.
Konopka said, "It's thick ice but if you fall through it and the current takes you down and you are looking up just taking your last couple of breaths for a deer (laughs)."
Konopka finally made it off the ice with the deer.
Fortunately, no one was injured.
