Center of California plaque stolen in North Fork

Wednesday, November 30, 2016
FRESNO, California (KFSN) -- The Madera County Sheriff's office is looking for the thieves who ripped off a bronze plaque that marked the exact center of California. The plaque is on a rock in the heart of the town of North Fork.

The rock has been sitting along Italian Bar Road since 1998, but now the plaque part is gone. Investigators say the suspect must have used some kind of prying tool to rip it off.

If you know anything that can help find the thieves, you are asked to call the Madera County Sheriff's Office.
