The Madera County Sheriff's Office says that just before 9:00 p.m., Bass Lake Holiday Enforcement deputies responded to the Pine Slope Day Use area for a reported stabbing.
When they arrived, they discovered that 56-year-old Juan Carlos Muniz and a 25-year-old man were in a verbal fight that turned physical.
At some point during the fight, Muniz stabbed the 25-year-old in the stomach.
Due to the severity of the injuries, he was airlifted to a hospital where he underwent emergency surgery.
Officials say that the victim is recovering and is expected to live.
Deputies located Muniz nearby at the lake and arrested him.
He was booked into the Madera County Jail for attempted murder.
The investigation remains ongoing.
