According to the California Highway Patrol, they received reports of an accident just before 8:40 p.m. at the intersection of Road 9 and Avenue 21.
When officers arrived, they found that a Honda CR-V carrying five people was traveling north on Road 9 when a GMC Sierra carrying two people failed to stop at a stop sign on Avenue 21 and collided with the Honda.
The GMC hit the Honda's left side, causing major damage and leaving four people in the Honda dead at the scene.
The four victims have been identified as 42-year-old Pedro Chavez Garcia, 36-year-old Gerardo Ramirez Aguilar, 52-year-old Cayetano Beyza-Mendoza, and 13-year-old Pedro Chavez, all from Merced County.
It is unknown if drugs or alcohol were factors in the crash.
The crash remains under investigation.
