100-year-old woman killed, 4 hospitalized in violent Fresno County crash, CHP says

FRESNO COUNTY, Calif. (KFSN) -- A 100-year-old woman has died in a crash after investigators say an 18-year-old woman blew past a stop sign near Millerton Lake.

The California Highway Patrol says the two cars collided just before 1 p.m. Thursday at the intersection of Auberry Road and Old Millerton Road.

Officers say the 18-year-old woman from Clovis was driving a Toyota sedan towards the intersection and failed to stop at the sign.

The woman's Toyota slammed into a Nissan sedan driven by an 88-year-old man from Prather, sending both cars into a nearby embankment.

His 100-year-old passenger died at the scene.



The driver and two other passengers in the Nissan were hospitalized with moderate to major injuries.

The 18-year-old was hospitalized with major injuries.

The crash remains under investigation and alcohol and drugs do not appear to be factors.
