The Tulare County Sheriff's Office (TCSO) received the call on Sunday around midnight.
Investigators say the teen had found out about the party through social media, and a confrontation broke out when he was asked to leave.
"The suspect felt he was being disrespected by being asked to leave; that is when the stabbings occurred," says TCSO Media Supervisor, Ashley Ritchie.
"There were two people stabbed. One person was stabbed on the side, and the other in the throat. Kuckily it didn't go all the way in. Those two people were treated and released, so they are going to be okay," continues Ritchie.
Through their investigation, detectives tracked down the suspect.
He was arrested on Tuesday at his home in Porterville.
"During that warrant of his home, detectives found ammunition, a gun, gun parts, gang-related clothing and material, and high-capacity magazines that are compatible with AR-style rifles," explains Ritchie.
Detectives say the 17-year-old is an active gang member, and they have seen an uptick in younger teens involved in gang-related crimes.
The sheriff's office says that's due in part to gangs taking advantage of juveniles who may face less serious consequences in court than adults.
"12, 13, 14-year-olds are being groomed to be violent gang members. This 17-year-old boy is now facing attempted murder charges. And hopefully not, but this could potentially ruin his life forever," says Ritchie.
The Tulare County Sheriff's Office encourages parents to be involved in their children's lives and have open and honest communication with their children.
Deputies are asking anyone with information to contact the detectives on this case.
