17-year-old shot in Madera, suspect arrested, police say

MADERA, Calif. (KFSN) -- Madera police are investigating after a teenager was found with a gunshot wound on Friday.

Police responded to Magnolia Street near Washington Avenue for reports of a shooting. That's where they found a 17-year-old boy suffering from a gunshot wound lying in the street.

The victim was taken to a nearby hospital, where he is receiving treatment. A short time later, police identified and arrested the suspect, another 17-year-old boy.

He was was booked into the juvenile hall for attempted murder.

Police say there is no ongoing threat to the public and encourage anyone with information related to this incident to contact police.
