Deputies were called to Avenue 236 a little before 5 pm. When they arrived, they found a 23-year-old man who was shot in the chest.
"Medical arrived, rendered first aid, which was unsuccessful, unfortunately, and the male passed," says Tulare County Lt. Mario Sandoval.
Authorities say someone drove up to the victim and shot him.
Although there wasn't anyone around who witnessed the shooting, Lt. Sandoval says there was someone nearby who heard what happened.
"He had a family member there," Lt. Sandoval said. "Heard what sounded like gunshots, went to investigate it and found the individual laying down on the ground."
Investigators were working to see if the house security cameras recorded the incident.
As they continue to try and figure out what led up to the shooting, authorities say the family member who was inside the home is heartbroken.
"Obviously, a family member had passed, so we're trying to comfort them as best as we can, as well as get any information from them," Lt. Sandoval said.
