5 people displaced after fire destroys home in Southwest Fresno

FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- Five people have been displaced after a fire erupted at their home on Thursday afternoon in Southwest Fresno.

Officials say the fire started just before 4:00 p.m. at a home on Cornell Avenue west of Brawley Avenue.

Heavy smoke and flames could be seen coming out of the two-story home.

Initially, firefighters did not know whether anyone was inside and searched the house. No one was inside.

A total of 40 firefighters helped put out the flames.



The fire caused massive damage to the home and displaced two adults and three children.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
