FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- A mother is facing several charges after authorities say she drove drunk and crashed into a river with her children in the back seat.
The car was already filled with 8 inches of water when first responders arrived at the scene in North Carolina.
State troopers say Connie Jo Penland, 26, was so intoxicated she couldn't remember what town she was in.
Both children -- ages 6 and 7 -- were wearing their seat belts at the time of the crash. They were not hurt and have been turned over to their aunt.
